What was involved?
The brief was to undertake a complete build of bathroom and walk-in shower sauna, reconfigure the water supply and waste, plus plumb in radiators and towel rails into the existing system.
Some design layout and planning for the spaces was involved, along with problem solving the waste through the house itself as no pipework is allowed on the facing elevation.
Materials and finish
The customer had specified a high specification bathroom furniture and high grade porcelain tiles for the floor and walls. Building into a blank canvas helps in providing clean surfaces to work with and ‘open walls’ to hide pipework and focus on finish.
The design was a clean white and grey marled finished floor and light grey walls – both grouted with light grey. The outcome is a muted, stylish design, which shows off the Roca bathroom fittings and chrome detailing.
Project conclusions
There is much problem solving and thinking ahead with this project. Particularly in managing how water flows through the house and the technical aspects of getting the plumbing right in the first stages.
But the key consideration is quality of finish and the end results. Consistency in attention to detail being important factors when it comes to the customers expectations being surpassed. A bathroom is a long term investment in a home and needs to stand the test of time.
